Name: Megan E.
Age: Twenty-four
Birthday: December 3, 1986
Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA

I was born in Chicago and lived there until I was 2 years old, then I moved to the North West Suburbs with my parents and siblings. I've lived in the same condo since then with my mom and dad, and I'm currently still here. I can't wait to move out, to be honest. I get along with my parents 100%, I always have, but I'm ready to move on. As you can maybe tell from the pictures, I have brown hair (naturally dark blonde, but I've gone through many phases with my hair, lol) and brown eyes, and I wear glasses almost all the time - I just tend to take them off for pictures sometimes. I'm 5'9", which I love most of the time. And even though I'm insecure about myself sometimes (like any girl), I love looking at myself in the mirror and taking pictures of myself. XP

My family means everything to me. My parents (Marianne and Wally) have been the best I could ask for. They were both older when they had me, which I'm sure you can tell from the photo. My dad had been married before, and had my half-brother and half-sister, Joe (35) and Jennifer (37). They lived with me and my parents for most of my childhood, so I don't view them as half siblings at all. My brother recently got married to Dana, and as far as I know they don't plan on having kids. My sister has been married to Stefano for about 7 years, and they have 3 kids; my twin nieces Adriana and Isabella (7), and my nephew Nicholai (1). They all live in the same building as me and my parents, so I get to see them all quite often, which is amazing. I have loved being such a big part of my nieces' life, and that is mostly because I live so close. I look forward to seeing little Nicholai grow up, and even though I won't live as close while he grows up since I plan on moving out, I hope to still be his favorite Auntie. :D

Oh, Medieval Times. I started working there in August of 2006. I applied to work in whatever department was hiring, and I got called in for an interview for the Sound and Lighting department. I was a bit weary at first, because I hadn't ever done anything like that before, but I was assured that no experience was necessary and they would train me. 4 1/2 years later, and I couldn't be happier with where I am! It's the best department, for sure. My manager, Edgar, is absolutely insane and one of my favorite people in the world. The rest of my department is pictured above, and I know I've mentioned all of them at least once or twice in my journal. For those who don't know, Medieval Times is "dinner and tournament" entertainment. You eat (with your hands) while watching Knights of the Realm fight and joust and play games, and there's a plot as well, with the King, Princess, Prince, etc. It's a lot of fun, and surprisingly it doesn't get too boring watching the same show over and over and over again.

I graduated from high school in 2005, and then went off to Elmhurst College from 2005-2009. I originally majored in Sociology, thinking that I wanted to be a social worker, because I knew I wanted to work with kids. After one semester, though, I knew that wasn't the right path for me, and I switched my major to Elementary Education. I loved everything about it! I student taught in a 5th grade classroom (10-11 year olds). At first I wasn't thrilled, because I thought I would have liked a younger grade instead, but I ended up really enjoying it. I was so sad when I had to leave them! I wasn't able to get a full time teaching job right after graduation, so I got a job substitute teaching in District #54, which is where I went to school Kindergarten through 8th grade. Now, I work in a different district as a one-on-one aide for a boy with Emotional Disturbance. He's adorable, and most of the time I love working with him. But, I still want to have my own classroom one day. Wish me luck in getting a job! :)

Friends: In all honesty, I don't have a lot of friends. I never have. But I've always been ok with that. Sometimes this bothers me, but I guess mostly it doesn't matter.

Books, Movies, TV, Music: I adore reading. I'm actually a pretty slow reader, but that's mostly my own choice. I like to read slow when I read novels, because I like to really get into the story. My absolute favorite is Harry Potter, even though I haven't reread the books or posted about it here in a while. I also adore the Sookie Stackhouse novels, because I fell in love with the show True Blood. As you can see, I'm a fan of fantasy novels, but I also really like realistic fiction, romance, and historical fiction. It's hard for me to pick a favorite genre, because it just depends on the story. Jodi Picoult is one of my absolute favorite authors, though.

I've always loved movies, but there are so many out there that I haven't seen yet. Some of my favorites are Titanic, Moulin Rouge, Avatar, Knocked Up, The Terminal, and of course a ton of Disney and Pixar movies. There are lots more, but that's what I can think of for now. :)

Oh, television. I love tv! I get addicted to shows quite easily. My favorites are The Office, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Glee, True Blood, Firefly, Fringe, Project Runway, Private Practice, House, Friends, The Simpsons, American Idol, Wife Swap, What Not to Wear, and Say Yes to the Dress. I am currently watching Fringe, and so far I've gotten through Season 1. I can't wait to finish it! There are a lot of shows that I want to get into, but I just don't have the time yet!

I listen to music when I do... just about everything. When I shower, when I'm just sitting at my computer, when I do laundry, when I would work on homework, etc. I have way too many favorites to name, and my favorites tend to change fairly often, but if I had to choose three I'd pick: Sum 41, Plain White Ts, and Paramore. Ok, and Glee. And shush, Glee counts! :P

LJ: I'm including this because I spend a lot of time on LiveJournal. I used to be way more into making graphics and participating/running icontest or LIMS communities, but lately I haven't been as interested. I still follow lots of comms, but I don't do much myself anymore.

Thanks for stopping by, and [possibly] taking the time to read all this! If you're someone new and you're interested in being friends, leave me a comment at this post! And if we were already friends, maybe you learned something new. Ask any questions you may have, or leave me comments about anything you want. :D
